Let me tell you, I've been itching for this Blue Team Cybersecurity Challenge ever since my first try in this challenge series way back this year. The anticipation of retribution after my initial attempt had me eagerly signing up again, even if it meant burning the midnight oil till 4 a.m. (Totally worth it, by the way!)
I remember the first time around, I was a bit lost in how to structure KQL queries since I was still new to it. Fast forward to now, after a good deal of practice with KC7's modules, and also making writeups for some of them, I've definitely improved a lot in my efficiency and speed in crafting the correct KQL queries to find the information I needed (Practice really does make perfect).
A massive shoutout to the dream team, Team Missing_Haxolotyl (Team 17)! Everyone brought their A-game and tackled multiple questions in the challenge, leading to breakthroughs, and eventually solving every question in the module which led to that glorious first-place position! 🥇 Big virtual high-fives to my awesome teammates — Tawon Saetang, Carl Hastings, Chiung-Ying Dohn, Jason Oh, and Will Hargis. I've been wanting to meet yall since our interactions have been confined online (Discord FTW) because of the location difference, and I'm genuinely glad it finally happened!
Also, hats off to the amazing organizers — Emily Hacker, Waymon Ho, Greg Schloemer, Simeon Kakpovi, Dani Reyes (The creator of the Sunlands challenge, loved it!) and the rest of the KC7 Foundation crew for hosting such a thrilling event! 🎉 Thanks for bringing together cyber enthusiasts and creating a space where we could geek out on cybersecurity challenges haha 😂
